Rural Marion County Crash Results In Fatality ***Date Correction***(Photo) (Photo) -06/19/20

Correction:  The crash occurred on June 18th, 2020, at approximately 8:00 pm.

On June 18th, 2020, at approximately 8:00 pm deputies were dispatched to the report of a vehicle over an embankment in the 5200 block of Timber Trail NE, in rural Marion County.  When emergency crews arrived on scene they found a white Ford Ranger pick-up approximately 100 feet down the embankment, off of the roadway.  When first responders reached the driver of the Ford Ranger they determined he was deceased. 

The driver in the crash has been identified as Pedro Valdez Moreno, 29, of Woodburn.  There were no other passengers in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Deputies were on scene of the crash for several hours investigating.  Initial information from the scene indicates speed and alcohol may have been contributing factors to the single vehicle crash.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted during this incident by the Silverton Fire District and Woodburn Ambulance.
