On May 30th, 2019 at approximately 8:51 pm an inmate fled from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office Transition Center in Salem. Deputies at the Transition Center reported Jesse Guajardo jumped a fence outside of the building and got into a vehicle waiting nearby.
Deputies were able to locate the vehicle at a home in the 4700 block of Whitman Cir NE. Guajardo fled from the residence on foot while additional law enforcement officers were responding to the scene. K-9’s from the Sheriff’s Office and Salem Police Department were used to search the area, but were ultimately not able to locate Guajardo.
Guajardo was in custody for a Parole Violation. Guajardo is a 30 year-old Hispanic male from the Salem area. He is 5’9” tall, 130 lbs, has brown eyes and black hair.
The driver of the vehicle, Kendra Olvera, was taken into custody for her role in the incident. Olvera, a 24 year-old female from Salem, was booked into the Marion County Jail on the charges of Unauthorized Departure and Driving While Suspended (Misdemeanor).
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office Transition Center prepares inmates for re-entry into the community prior to release from custody. Staffed around the clock, the Transition Center provides an intermediate sanction between Jail and Probation. Unlike the Jail, the Transition Center provides minimum-security supervision. Residents are expected to work, either at their own jobs, or by performing community services. The Transition Center has a capacity of 144 offenders.
Deputies are asking anyone who has information about Guajardo’s location to call the Marion County Sheriff’s Office at 503-588-5032.
