News Release
Portland Man Attempts to Rob Gun Shop - 05/15/19

At approximately 11:05 am today, deputies were dispatched to an attempted theft at a local gun store in north Marion County.  Employees at Rich’s Gun Shop in Donald called to report a customer had come into the location and asked to look at an AK-47.  When handed the  unloaded rifle, the customer fled out of the building with the rifle.

Three employees from the business chased the suspect outside where he allegedly attempted to load a round of ammunition into the rifle.  The employees were able to restrain the suspect while waiting for deputies to arrive.  There were no reported injuries during the robbery.

Thomas Fisher, a 47 year-old Portland man, was taken into custody at the scene by Sheriff’s Deputies.  He has been lodged at the Marion County Jail on the charge of Robbery in the First Degree.

Fisher is scheduled to be arraigned at 3:00 pm on May 16th at the Marion County Circuit Court Annex.
