Deschutes County Man Arrested After Brief Chase (Photo) - 02/09/18

Today around 10:30 a.m., deputies stopped a gray Nissan Frontier on State Street near Lancaster Drive NE in Salem. During the traffic stop deputies learned the vehicle was stolen and when they attempted to arrest the driver he fled on foot.

The driver Mark Kurtz, age 39, of Deschutes County was arrested a short distance later and taken into custody. Mr. Kurtz has been identified as a person believed to be involved in a February 7th robbery of the Adult Book Store located at 155 Lancaster Drive NE.

Mr. Kurtz is currently at the Marion County Jail for the crimes of Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle, Resisting Arrest, Attempting to Elude Police, Unlawful Possession of Meth, Interfering with a Police Officer, Robbery II and Menacing. Additionally, Mr. Kurtz had two outstanding felony warrants for his arrest out of Marion and Deschutes Counties.
