The Marion County Sheriff's Office is adding extra DUII patrols to our roadways over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Starting November 23rd and ending November 26th, your deputy sheriff's will be working extra hours to detect and arrest intoxicated drivers enhancing the safety of our resident and vacationing motorists.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend in 2015 (6 pm on Wednesday, November 25, to 5:59 am on Monday, November 30), there were 301 passenger vehicle occupants killed in traffic crashes across the nation. So please, if you chose to celebrate at a football game or over a good holiday dinner, have a plan to get home safely.
