Operation Green Light runs November 4 – 11, the week leading up to Veterans Day. As part of the effort, Marion County buildings will once again be illuminated in green as a visible sign of gratitude and support for veterans and their families.

“Operation Green Light is a simple way to send a powerful message: we will always stand for our veterans,” said Commissioner Colm Willis, Chair. “Marion County is proud to light our buildings green again this year, and we hope every neighborhood in the county will shine green with us.”

Marion County invites residents, businesses, cities, and community organizations to join the county by displaying green lights in their homes, storefronts, and offices. Something as simple as a green bulb in a porch light shows veterans that their community sees them and is grateful for their service.

“When we put out the call, our community always answers,” said Commissioner Danielle Bethell. “I encourage every resident in Marion County to switch on a green light this week and take a moment to thank a veteran for what they’ve done for you, not only on Veterans Day, but every day of the year.”

Marion county is proud to also be a Purple Heart County providing veterans with the resources and support they need. A list of compiled veterans resources can be found on the county website.

“Our veterans and their families have given so much to this country,” said Commissioner Kevin Cameron. “A green light is a small gesture, but it lets every veteran who drives by know that Marion County stands with them.

“Thank you for your service and all that you do.”
