Volunteer Opportunity: Victim Advocates - 02/24/23
SALEM, Ore. – Feb. 24, 2023 – Marion County’s Victim Assistance Program provides support to victims of child abuse, stalking, sexual assault, elder abuse, domestic violence, and homicide. The program offers 24-hour on-call response for victims of sexual assault and for the surviving loved ones of victims of homicide.
Volunteer advocates work side-by-side with program staff to provide immediate crisis intervention and advocacy throughout the investigation and prosecution of the case. In addition to providing direct services to victims, there are volunteer opportunities providing office and special event support.
Volunteer advocates receive specialized training to prepare them for this important role. The 2023 spring training will begin Monday, March 27, 2023. All Victim Assistance volunteers must complete the application process and training.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old, able to work effectively with a diverse client base, have a strong moral character, and no record of criminal conduct. To be considered for this volunteer role, applicants must submit a Victim Assistance Volunteer Application no later than Wednesday, March 8, 2023.
