MRMS And MES Lockdown Information -10/04/21

At approximately 10:50 this morning, in collaboration with law enforcement officials, Molalla River Middle School and Molalla Elementary School were placed in lockdown.  The two schools remained in lockdown during a period of time when there was significant police activity in the neighborhood south of the schools. 
 
We are grateful all students and staff followed protocols and remained safe throughout the time period.  At approximately 12:10 pm, in collaboration with law enforcement, both schools returned to normal operations. Schools will be released at the regular time after school today.
 
Although we do not know specifically what happened in the neighborhood surrounding the schools, we wanted to communicate with you as soon as possible regarding the facts we have and provide you with information about the school level response.  All district schools have safety protocols for such situations, and we are proud of our staff and students for following those protocols effectively today.

School principals and others will be monitoring to make sure teachers, staff and students are supported over the coming days.  Such events in the community can create a great deal of stress and anxiety.  If you or your student need additional support, please contact your school principal.
