McMinnville Fire Department Responds to a Fatal Apartment Fire - 12/04/17

McMinnville Fire Department received a report of a commercial structure fire located at Park Place Apartments, 230 SE Evans ST. McMinnville. Dispatch received multiple calls about the fire at 9:35 PM on the 3rd of December.

Responding units arrived to find a six unit apartment with heavy smoke and flames coming from the windows and door of a second floor unit. First arriving crews knocked the fire down in the stairwell and proceeded to contain the fire in the apartment where the fire originated. The same units then conduct search and rescue operations. Second in units evacuated the adjacent apartments. The majority of the fire damage was contained to the apartment of origin. The last operational units cleared the scene at 1:07 AM

The occupant of the apartment where the fire originated was found deceased. The name is not being released until the next of kin can be notified.
Medics treated and transported one resident from an adjacent apartment for exposure to smoke.

All occupants of the six units were displaced for the night. Red Cross was contacted to assist. Three units were damaged by smoke and flame. Cause of the fire is still under investigation.

McMinnville responded with 6 units and 28 personnel. Automatic and Mutual Aid partners included, Amity, Lafayette, Dundee, and TVF&R.
