Adult in Custody Death at Multnomah County Inverness Jail (Photo) - 05/04/23

On Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at approximately 12:30 a.m., an adult in custody (AIC) was found unresponsive in their cell at the Multnomah County Inverness Jail (MCIJ). Corrections deputies immediately began lifesaving measures and called for jail medical staff. Paramedics arrived and continued care. Despite lifesaving efforts, the adult in custody was pronounced deceased by paramedics.

The adult in custody is identified as 26-year-old Donovan Anthony Wood. He was booked into Multnomah County Detention Center (MCDC) on December 20, 2022.

As standard protocol, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office Detectives Unit responded and is conducting a death investigation in conjunction with the Multnomah County Medical Examiner’s Office. The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death.

The investigation remains open, and no further comment will be made at this time.
