On Saturday, November 6, at approximately 11:15 a.m., Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office deputies and medical responders were dispatched to the report of a young person being struck by a fallen tree limb in the area of Thousand Acres Dog Park at the Sandy River Delta in Troutdale. The incident took place about a quarter-mile from the main road.
Despite lifesaving efforts, the teenager did not survive their injuries. The teenager has been identified as 14-year-old Christopher Kelly of Portland. Kelly was a freshman at Central Catholic High School.
The teenager was in the area with a volunteer group planting trees.
“Our thoughts are with this young man’s family during this tragic time,” said Undersheriff Nicole Morrisey O’Donnell. “This weighs heavy on all of us in the first responder community.”
