The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) wants to thank the public for helping to identify suspects involved in an assault that occurred on Sunday, May 16, 2021, at Glenn Otto Park in Troutdale. In the 24-hour period following our initial news release, MCSO detectives received approximately 90 tips.
As of Wednesday morning, all but one suspect involved in the assault has been identified. Attached are photos of the final suspect. The suspect is seen on video (2:20- 2:25) kicking one of the victims while the victim was on the ground. If you recognize this individual, please call the MCSO Tip Line at 503-988-0560 and reference case number 21-24002. At the time of the assault, the suspect was wearing a grey shirt with the number "4" printed on the front and back, dark colored jeans, a grey hat and a necklace.
Detectives are conducting interviews and performing follow up investigation. MCSO will release more information when it is appropriate. No further comment will be made at this time.

The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is asking the public to help identify suspects involved in a brutal assault that occurred near the Sandy River at Glenn Otto Park Sunday night. The assault was captured on camera and shared with MCSO. The case is under investigation by MCSO Detectives.
At approximately 7:36 p.m., on May 16, 2021, MCSO deputies responded to a report of an assault at 1110 E. Historic Columbia River Highway in Troutdale. When deputies arrived, they located two adult males with injuries.
It was reported a group of individuals swam across the Sandy River, confronted the victims, and proceeded to violently attack the victims, who are brothers. One man, who appears to be wearing salmon colored shorts, used a large stick more than once to assault one of the victims. Multiple male suspects participated and continued to assault one of the victims by punching, kicking and stomping, even as he was laying on the ground defenseless.
It is also alleged individuals in the aggressing group used homophobic slurs prior to and during the assault. Detectives are considering bias crime charges.
“This is a serious and appalling assault that occurred in broad daylight at a family-friendly, riverfront beach,” Law Enforcement Chief Deputy Nicole Morrisey O’Donnell said. “We are actively investigating the assault, and we are urging the public to come forward with information that may lead to an arrest of these individuals. Violence has no place in Multnomah County.”
When deputies arrived, the suspects had left the area. At this time, no arrests have been made. A video of the assault is being shared in an attempt to identify those involved in the assault. If anyone has information or additional video, please call the MCSO Tip Line at 503-988-0560 and reference case number 21-24002. As a warning, the video contains violence and profane language.
