Humans Remains found near Chinook Landing Identified - 06/06/19

On May 20, 2019, human skeletal remains were located in the area of NE 223rd and NE Marine Drive in Fairview.  The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office initiated a death investigation and worked with the Multnomah County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Oregon State Police Crime Lab to identify the remains and the cause/manner of death.  The remains have been positively identified as Tiffany Bettis, also known as Melinda Smith, a Fairview resident that was reported missing in March 2015.  MCSO Detectives and the East County Major Crimes Team are continuing the investigation into the discovery of the remains and circumstances of her death.  There is no indication of any risk to the community.
