News Release
Impaired Driving Patrols Increased During Holidays - 12/12/18

Beginning December 13th and ending January 1st, the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) will have extra deputies on patrol looking for impaired drivers.  MCSO, along with other sheriff's offices from across the state, will be focusing enforcement efforts on drunk, drugged and fatigued drivers as part of the national holiday season enforcement campaign.  Funds for these patrols come from grants from the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration and the Oregon State Sheriffs Association.

MCSO encourages motorists to make a plan for safe transportation before heading out to social engagements.  Identifying a designated driver and installing ride share apps on your phone are both proactive measures that can be taken to insure your safety, and the safety of those around you.

DUII applies to motorists who operate a motor vehicle under the influence of any controlled substance (like marijuana) and prescription drugs, not just alcohol.  Motorists arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants can face fines and fees of over $10,000, have their license suspended, and face jail time.  Penalties increase significantly for impaired drivers involved in crashes.

Drive sober or get pulled over.
