The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) conducted a speed enforcement mission on Interstate 84 on Saturday, August 11 resulting in 27 citations.
MCSO was joined by members from the Oregon State Police and Portland Police Bureau to provide an enhanced presence between the Interstate 205 interchange and Mile Post 42. The primary goal of the enforcement mission was to provide a visible deterrent to unsafe driving practices.
Over the course of the four-hour mission, deputies, troopers, and officers stopped 37 vehicles, issued 27 citations and 14 warnings.

Speed remains one of the leading causes of fatalities on our roadways. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, speeding killed 10,111 people, accounting for more than a quarter (27%) of all traffic fatalities in 2016.
This mission was grant-funded by ODOT’s Transportation Safety Division.
