Enhanced DUII Enforcement through the New Year (Photo) - 12/13/17

The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office will be participating in enhanced DUII enforcement through the New Year. Funding for this effort is provided by the Oregon State Sheriff's Association (OSSA) and the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT).

As the holidays approach and we see an increase in travel and traffic, MCSO reminds you to drive sober.

MCSO and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) want to remind you that any time you drive under the influence of alcohol, you put everyone in danger, including yourself and your passengers. There were 10,497 deaths from alcohol-impaired-driving crashes in 2016. Help us spread this lifesaving message: Buzzed Driving Is Drunk Driving.

Today through New Year's Day, MCSO is adding enhanced DUII patrols and enforcement throughout the county including a dedicated safety mission on New Year's Eve.

MCSO, ODOT, OSSA, and NHTSA remind you to have a plan and commit to making our roads safer. If you're drinking, do not drive.
* Designate a sober driver
* Call a taxi or ride-sharing service
* Use public transportation

Support zero tolerance for impaired driving. If you see a drunk driver, call 9-1-1. If you know someone who has been drinking and plans to drive impaired, take the keys and make arrangements for a safe trip home.

Commit to only driving 100-percent sober. Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.
