This morning at 2:53 AM MCFD#1 untis were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident near the intersction of Hazelgreen Road NE and 80th Avenue NE. Intial units arrived to find a delivery truck on its side off the roadway into a utility pole. Sadly the driver and passenger of the truck were deceased on arrival. The accident remains under investigation and any further requests for information is reffered to the Marion County Sheriff's Office.
Hazelgreen Road NE is closed between 75th Avenue NE and 80th Avenue NE and traffic in the area is being diverted during the investigation. The utility pole involved in the accident was cracked and Portland General Electric (PGE) will be replacing the pole later today after the investigation is complete and the vehcile is cleared. Please drive with caution in the area.
MCFD#1 responded to the accident with one engine, one medic unit, and one Battalion Chief and was assisted by the Marion County Sheriff's Office, Marion County Public Works, Marion County Medical Examiner and Portland General Electric.
