Man Held Accountable In Cases Involving Assaults, Drug Delivery And Impaired Driving - 10/09/26

State of Oregon v. Daniel Haynes

Marion County Circuit Court Cases 25CR48419, 25CR37418 and 25CR69268

Salem, OR – October 9, 2026 – On October 7, 2026, Marion County Circuit Court Judge Manuel Perez sentenced Daniel Haynes (age 42) to 9.5 years in the Department of Corrections.

The conviction is the result of guilty pleas in three different cases. The first case stems from an incident on September 18, 2024 in NE Salem when Marion County Sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene of a vehicle collision. Haynes, who was driving a motorcycle, crashed into a vehicle making a legal turn. Haynes and his passenger were ejected onto the road. Haynes, his passenger, and the other driver were transported to the Salem Hospital Emergency Room Department where Haynes’ labs later revealed four different controlled substances in his blood. Haynes pled guilty to Driving Under the Influence, Assault in the Third Degree, and Assault in the Fourth Degree.

In the second case, deputies arrested Haynes on June 11, 2025, after he was found in the parking lot of a Lancaster business with fentanyl and methamphetamine. He pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance.

In the third case, deputies responded to a disturbance call in SE Salem and found Haynes in possession of fentanyl, methamphetamine and a firearm. He pled guilty to Unlawful Delivery of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Manufacture/Delivery of a Schedule II Controlled Substance and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.  Haynes was out of custody on a release agreement pending the earlier cases when this incident occurred.

The state was represented by Deputy District Attorney Matthew Estrada. The Marion County District Attorney’s Office wishes to extend gratitude to the deputies at the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
