SUV Roll Over Into Drainage Slough Kills Driver -09/19/22
Longview, WA – At 8:26 AM, units were dispatched to a SUV that had rolled several times and landed upside down in a drainage slough near 26th Avenue on Industrial Way. Longview Police, Cowlitz County Sheriff, and Longview Fire units arrived to find several bystanders attempting to rescue occupants from the submerged SUV.
Bystanders were able to rescue a newborn and 5 year old from the vehicle. An adult exited the vehicle by unknown means. The three were transported to St. John Medical Center by AMR paramedics with undisclosed injuries.
An adult occupant remained trapped in the SUV. Law enforcement officers used a police SUV’s winch to roll the victim’s vehicle allowing firefighters to work on freeing the trapped driver. At 8:37 AM, firefighters reported that the victim was deceased.
No photos of the collision will be released until after notification of the victim’s family. The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Washington State Patrol.
