News Release
Linn County Sheriff's Office Investigates Threat to Harrisburg High School - 04/11/19

Undersheriff Paul Timm reports his deputies received a report of a threat made to the Harrisburg High School.  On Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at 12:40 p.m., a parent reported their child had told them about another student making threats.

Deputies spoke with the juvenile who made the threats, other students that heard the apparent threats, and school officials about the incident.  Deputies later went to the home of the juvenile and spoke with the parents.  The parents and the juvenile were both cooperative.

It was determined the comments were made a month ago and according to all were taken out of context. Other students brought up the comments again this week and started posting on social media about them, creating an alarm to parents and other students. The comments were determined not to be credible threats to the high school.

Although the threats made by the juvenile do not appear to be credible, the Linn County Sheriff’s Office takes all threats of this nature seriously.  There will be extra deputies patrolling the Harrisburg area to ensure the safety of the students and nearby residents.
