Deputies Find Missing Hunter - 01/15/18

Linn County Sheriff Bruce Riley reports his deputies located a missing hunter this morning.

At 9:11 p.m. last night, Linn County Sheriff's Office dispatch received a call from a female concerned that her husband and his friend had not returned from hunting. The two individuals had been hunting in the Crabtree Lake area off of Quartzville road outside of Sweet Home. She called back an hour later to call off the search, saying she had heard from her husband that they would be heading home soon.

A few hours later at 2:17 a.m., the hunter's wife called back again because her husband and his friend had still not returned and she wanted deputies to resume the search.

Deputies responded to the area and were able to find the callers husband, 51-year old, John Boeder. He told deputies that his friend, 52-year old, Bryan Keith Spaulding of Lebanon, was trying to flush out some elk, and never returned to where their vehicle was parked.

Deputies began searching the area and Mr. Spaulding was found at 11:03 a.m. this morning. He was found walking out onto a logging road about a mile from where he was last seen. Mr. Spaulding did not require medical attention. Mr. Spaulding was arrested for Felon in Possession of a Firearm for possessing a hunting rifle. He was transported to the Linn County Jail where he was lodged.
