Linn County Sheriff Bruce Riley reports that yesterday his deputies arrested 22-year old Steven Mitchell Mercier from Junction City, Oregon.

Deputies responded to several calls of vehicles being broken into in the Halsey and Harrisburg area earlier in the day. Items were stolen from victims vehicles and it was reported to have occurred sometime during the early morning and daytime hours.

Deputies were able to obtain video footage from the Halsey Select Market where one of crimes occurred.

At 4:01 p.m. while deputies were still looking for the suspect, they discovered a stolen vehicle in the area that matched the vehicle shown in the video. They searched the area and found Steven Mercier walking near where the stolen vehicle was found. He was in possession of several stolen items from the car break-ins. It was also determined that he had been driving the stolen vehicle, a blue 2005 Dodge Dakota pick-up. The vehicle was stolen from the Monroe area.
