39-Year-Old Man Sentenced To 100 Months Prison For Sexual Assault Of Incapacitated 16-Year-Old (Photo) - 11/03/26

On October 28, 2026, Lincoln County Circuit Court Presiding Judge Sheryl Bachart sentenced Christopher Lowes (39-year-old) to 100 months in prison for sexually assaulting an incapacitated 16-year-old.

After a three-day jury trial, Lowes was found guilty of Rape in the First Degree, Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, Sexual Abuse in the Second Degree, and Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor.

During trial, evidence showed that Lowes lured a 16-year-old to his residence in Depoe Bay and provided her with copious amounts of alcohol, as well as MDMA. When the victim became incapacitated, Lowes sexually assaulted her. In returning guilty verdicts, the jury specifically found that the victim was mentally incapacitated at the time she was sexually assault.

Lowes prior criminal history includes Menacing and Recklessly Endangering Another Person in 2018, two counts of DUII in 2006, Driving While Suspended or Revoked in 2009, and DUII and Reckless Driving in 2024. At the time of this offense, Lowes was on bench probation in Lincoln County and was subject to a no alcohol/controlled substance condition of probation.

Rape in the First Degree is a Ballot Measure 11 offense with a presumptive statutory minimum sentence of 100 months prison, without no eligibility for reduction. Judge Bachart sentenced Lowes to 100 months in the Department of Corrections with no eligibility for a reduction in sentence and 20 years of post-prison supervision, less time served. Lowes is also subject to a lifetime sex offender registry requirement once released from the Department of Corrections.

This case was prosecuted by District Attorney Jenna Wallace and investigated by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Lincoln County Major Crimes Team.
