Legacy Health offers free monkeypox vaccination clinic on Saturday, Sept. 24

VANCOUVER, Wash. — At Legacy Health, our mission is good health for our people, our patients, our communities, and our world and maintaining the health of all our communities is the focus of what we do. With the current monkeypox outbreak, we encourage everyone who is eligible to receive a monkeypox vaccine.

This Saturday, Sept. 24, Legacy is offering a free monkeypox vaccination clinic at our Legacy Medical Group Family Wellness. Legacy is following guidelines set by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and is only able to offer the vaccine to people who fit the guidelines as high-risk patients.

“It’s important that we use all the tools at our disposal to slow the progression of monkeypox virus infections in our communities,” said Nick Kashey, M.D. Clinical Vice President of Population Health for Legacy Health. “Legacy Health is proud to offer an opportunity for our high-risk community members and neighbors to get vaccinated against monkeypox this weekend.”

High-risk patients are defined by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as:

  • Gay, bisexual, and other men or trans people who have sex with men, who have had more than one sexual partner in the past 14 days.
  • Sex workers of any sexual orientation or gender identity.
  • Persons who have had close contact within the past 14 days with someone with suspected or confirmed monkeypox.
  • Persons who had close contact with others at a venue or event or within a social group in the past 14 days where a suspected or confirmed monkeypox case was identified. This includes persons who received notice from a venue or event of a potential exposure within the past 14 days.

If any of the above apply to a patient who is at least 18 years old, they can schedule their vaccination now at https://legacyhealth.org/mpv/. Anyone who can’t schedule online can book an appointment by calling 503-415-4800 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
