Event raises nearly $190,000 for cancer care at Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center
VANCOUVER, WA – On Friday, May 20 the Salmon Creek Cares event presented by Columbia Credit Union raised close to $190,000 for cancer services at Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center.
Salmon Creek Hospital Foundation trustee Dennis Malin emceed the event, which celebrated the world-class cancer care provided at the hospital and featured the story of patient Mark McCampbell and his wife, Bonnie.
The event also included a sneak peek inside Legacy Salmon Creek’s newly remodeled Cancer Healing Center, which was funded by over $1 million of community donations. The center houses space for holistic therapy, genetic counseling and personalized navigation to complement the expert medical treatment provided at the hospital.
“The Cancer Healing Center provides much needed services and support to those receiving treatment for and recovering from cancer,” said Jon Hersen, president of Legacy Salmon Creek. “We are excited to offer this service here at Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center to help improve the health of our community.”
The event was designed to follow COVID-19 safety precautions with about 120 community members gathered outdoors at Royal Oaks Country Club and other guests attending via livestream.
Salmon Creek Hospital Foundation raises funds for Legacy Salmon Creek, which offers the latest medical technology in a warm, comfortable, family-focused environment, with a range of innovations to improve the health and the life of the community. It is part of Legacy Health, the area’s largest local, nonprofit health system.
