Lebanon Firefighters battled a blaze in the late morning of Sunday, October 11, 2026. The Linn County dispatch center was notified at 10:36 of the structure fire in the 300 block of E. Maple with occupants still inside. The Battalion Chief arrived and found an attached garage with heavy fire from the front doors, extending into the house with a neighboring home exposed to flames. When the incident commander began to size up the situation, he met the occupants coming from the front door trying to wrangle their small dogs. Firefighters began a quick exterior attack on the garage while crews from a Lebanon fire/medic were instructed to enter the burning home and begin a search for any other occupants. Firefighters then quickly gained access to the roof with ladders of the burning house, cutting a hole to let heat and deadly smoke and gases escape the structure making it easier for firefighters to see and giving better air quality for any other potential occupants of the house in which there were none. During this operation the IC asked for a 2nd alarm for additional firefighters and equipment from surrounding fire departments while other Lebanon crews were busy extinguishing the fire in the garage and checking the inside of the neighboring structure for any extension of fire into its attic space. No injuries were reported by firefighters, and the two occupants were evaluated at the scene. Unfortunately, one of the family’s dogs didn’t escape and was later found and recovered by firefighters. The fire is currently under investigation by Lebanon’s investigation team.
Lebanon Fire District would like to thank Albany Fire Department, Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District, Lebanon Police Department and Pacific Power for responding to the fire on E. Maple, while Scio Fire District and an Albany Fire Department medic unit covered additional 911 calls in the district.
The district would also like to remind residents of the importance of working smoke alarms and that with colder weather approaching to follow safe home-heating instructions. Space heaters should be used with care, plugged directly into an outlet, and not permitted to remain on when residents are sleeping or away. Be Safe!
