3/28/25 - LCSO Case #21-2172 – Lane County Man Sentenced To Prison For Shooting (Photo) -04/10/25

On April 16th, 2021, Lane County Sheriff's deputies responded shooting at a 2-acre property near Eugene where elderly owners allowed numerous people to live.

Lane County Sheriff’s detectives then responded along with Oregon State Troopers and Eugene Police officers. Initial investigation determined the suspect, Darren Woods, had shot the victim two times with a handgun as the victim was returning home. Video surveillance corroborated victim and witness statements that this shooting was completely unprovoked. It was determined that Woods, who had only lived at the location for a few days, had never met and did not know victim, who had lived at the location for years. After shooting the victim, Woods fled the location in his pickup after ramming the victim's vehicle to escape.

Probable Cause was established and an arrest warrant for Woods along with an Attempt to Locate for his vehicle were issued. On April 25th, 2021, Woods was stopped in a different vehicle by a California Highway Patrol (CHP) Officer in Susanville, California, for speeding, and he was arrested on the warrant. The following day, the pickup Woods had been driving at the time of the incident was recovered.

Over the course of the next four years, this case was postponed numerous times due to COVID court schedules, Woods cutting his ankle monitor and fleeing supervision, and other court proceedings.

Finally, on March 13th, 2025, trial began. As a result of the Lane Count District Attorney's Office prosecution, Woods was found guilty by a jury of Assault in the First Degree, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. On March 28th, 2025, Woods was sentenced to 90 months in the Oregon Department of Corrections.

The victim survived, but sustained permanent disabilities from his injuries.

Woods' still faces criminal charges in Benton County stemming from a vehicle pursuit that occurred after Woods cut his ankle monitor in the summer of 2024.

The Lane County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the many agencies that assisted on this case over the past several years.

4/9/25 - LCSO Case #25-1431 - Lane County Sheriff’s Detectives Charge Veneta Man With Internet Crimes Against Children (Photo) -04/09/25

On March 24th, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a suicidal subject who lived in the 88000 block of Crystal Street, Veneta. The involved subject, Andrew Page Bledsoe, had traveled to Portland, Oregon, to meet a 13-year-old female. Instead, Bledsoe encountered a private group that investigates child predators. He left the Portland area and told a friend he was suicidal. Deputies were unable to locate Bledsoe.

The incident did not result in criminal charges out of Portland, however a Lane County Sheriff’s detective on the Lane County Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force began investigating. The investigation turned up potential internet crimes spanning multiple jurisdictions in Oregon, across the United States, and internationally. This evidence was discovered independent of the incident in Portland.

Detectives requested assistance from the Oregon State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigations due to the scope of the case. Together, they were able to track Bledsoe to Caldwell, Idaho.

On April 3rd, the Lane County District Attorney’s Office was granted a nationwide arrest warrant for Bledsoe, and he was arrested minutes later by the Caldwell Police Department. He is now awaiting extradition to Lane County, where he will initially be charged with 5 counts of Encouraging Child Sex Abuse in the First Degree.

This arrest is part of an ongoing effort by local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable members of our community. Thanks to the many agencies who participate in the Lane County ICAC Task Force and collaborate to make this work possible.

3/26/25 - LCSO Case #25-1447 - Deputies Arrest Eugene Man For Kidnap, Assault After Talking Him Down From Roof (Photo) -03/27/25

On March 26th at about 3 a.m., Lane County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence in the 3600 block of Stark Street, Eugene, for a report of a dispute. Deputies are familiar with the residence, having responded to the address more than 60 times in 2024 alone.

A male at the location, Travis John Krebs, 34, of Eugene, had climbed onto the second story roof before deputies arrived. Despite his disorderly behavior, deputies were able to convince Krebs to climb down and go back inside as no crime had been committed.

At about 4 a.m., deputies responded to the address again after receiving additional calls. When they arrived, Krebs was again on the roof. Deputies learned through their investigation that in the time since deputies first responded, Krebs had assaulted two other residents at the location. He then forced them into a room and barricaded them inside before again climbing onto the roof.

Deputies again attempted to talk Krebs down from the second story roof, however his behavior began to deteriorate, and he threatened to jump. A deputy responded with a drone to maintain observation of Krebs as he moved around the roof. At one point, Krebs dismantled a metal chimney cover and threw it to the ground, almost striking a deputy.

A deputy assigned to the Lane County Sheriff’s Crisis Negotiation Team was called out to assist. After about an hour and a half, Krebs climbed down from the roof and was arrested without further incident.

Krebs was lodged at the Lane County Jail for 2 counts of Assault in the 4th Degree and 2 counts of Kidnapping in the 2nd Degree.
