News Release

12/29/25 - LCSO Case 25-6268 - Armed Felon From Eugene Arrested After Crash, Fleeing On River Road (Photo) - 12/30/25

On December 29th at 11 p.m., a deputy in the River Road area of Eugene noticed a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer stopped in the middle of Irving Road. As the deputy turned around, the driver, Tyler Gene Dendy, 58, of Eugene, drove away at a high rate of speed. Due to traffic and being in a residential area, the deputy did not pursue.

Deputies monitored the vehicle’s location as it continued to drive recklessly on River Road. Deputies and officers from assisting agencies planned to spike the tires of the vehicle to slow it down. Before deputies were in position, the vehicle went off the road and stuck a concrete curb, flattening both driver’s side tires and slowing the vehicle. Deputies initiated a traffic stop, but Dendy continued driving for several miles before surrendering without incident.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies located a pistol, two daggers, ammunition, and substances that tested positive as methamphetamine and fentanyl. Dendy, a felon, was lodged at the Lane County Jail on the following charges:
- Fleeing or Attempt to Elude Police Officer by Vehicle
- Four counts of Reckless Driving
- Recklessly Endangering
- Three counts of Felon in Possession of a Restricted Weapon
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition by Certain Persons Prohibited
- Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine
- Unlawful Possession of Fentanyl

Thanks to Junction City Police for their assistance on this case.
