Case Resolution in August Market Robbery Spree (Photo) - 11/16/17

The Lane County Sheriff's Office and the Lane County District Attorney's Office are pleased to announce the resolution of three armed robbery cases. On November 9, 2017, Adam Bradley Smith was sentenced to a total of 330 months in connection with a spree of three robberies that occurred between August 13, 2017 and August 17, 2017.

The first robbery occurred on August 13, 2017 at the Fern Ridge Market and the second robbery occurred just two days later at the Alvadore Market. On August 15th, the Lane County Sheriff's Office put out a news release requesting the public's assistance in identifying the suspect from still shots of video surveillance. A tip from a community member in response to that request identified Smith as a suspect.

On August 17, 2017, a third robbery occurred at the Chevron on Hwy 99 and Irving. Through analysis of the surveillance video from all three incidents, it was determined that the same individual was responsible for all of the armed robberies. Further investigation by Lane County Sheriff's Office detectives confirmed that Smith was the person in the surveillance videos.

On August 17, 2017 shortly after 5:00 pm, Adam Bradley Smith was taken into custody and lodged at the Lane County Jail where he remained until he was sentenced on November 9th to 330 months for all three robberies. Robbery in the first degree is a Measure 11 crime subject to a mandatory minimum sentence of 90 months per count.

Lane County Sheriff's Office detectives have recovered two firearms involved in the robberies, which were instrumental in the resolution of the cases, along with the community's assistance in identifying Smith.

The Lane County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the Lane County District Attorney's Office for their diligent work in the prosecution of this case, the Eugene Police Department who contacted Smith on August 17, 2017 and assisted the Sheriff's Office in taking him into custody, and to the community member who provided the invaluable tip on Smith's identity.
