Dia De Los Muertos, A Celebration Of The Love For Life And Family (Photo) - 10/26/21
Vancouver, WA. October 26st, 2021.
On Saturday, October 30th, 2021, LULAC Council 47013, will be hosting a celebration of “Día de los Muertos”, in addition to its bi-monthly LULAC Mercado. There will be music, fresh produce, Covid-19 vaccines and a few more surprises, like the performance by the Vancouver Ballet Folklórico that will delight attendees with music and dance, and their costumes, that reflect the elements of Mexico’s living cultures; rich in traditions, and the merging of the indigenous and the Spaniard.
An altar created by Rosalba Pitkin from Clark County Community College, will be displayed to honor and celebrate her ancestors to show a tradition that she learned as a child from her native Nahuatl farming family; a tradition she continues to this day. Pitkin will share from her own experience, in English and Spanish, the traditions and rituals of this very special day and what it means to her. *
In addition to the celebration, LULAC Council 47013 will host a webinar in Spanish with Guillermo Marin, an educator and writer, among many other accomplishments. Marin will share the history, philosophy and ancestral culture of the Anahuac civilization, with special emphasis on Toltecayotl. * Marin works primarily with the Indigenous education teachers within the indigenous communities in Oaxaca, Mexico.
