K9 Bonni Apprehends Burglar (Photo) - 02/22/18

On February 22nd, 2018 at approximately 8:30 AM, Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to a suspicious activity call in the 100 block of Cook Rd near Toledo. The juvenile caller reported a male banging on the door of her house. A short time later, the male circled around to the back of the house and gained entry inside.

After a brief period in the house, the male fled the scene on foot. Units from the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, Oregon State Police, and Toledo Police Department arrived in the area and quickly set up a containment perimeter. Senior Deputy Shawn Carter arrived with K9 Bonni and began an area search of a nearby stream where the suspect was thought to have fled.

K9 Bonni picked up a track and led deputies to the suspect hiding in the brush a short distance away. The suspect, 33 year old Cody G. Barnhart of Toledo, was taken into custody without incident. Barnhart was charged with one count each of Burglary in the First Degree and Theft in the Second Degree. His bail was set at $265,000.
