Community Health Centers Of Lane County (CHCLC) Celebrates 2024 National Health Center Week -07/29/24

Community Health Centers of Lane County (CHCLC) will mark the 2024 National Health Center Week (August 4-10) with a Super Saturday Kids Health Clinic on Saturday, August 3rd from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  at the Delta Oaks Clinic, located at 1022 Green Acres Rd, in Eugene. The event, in partnership with Trillium, PacificSource and other community partners, will feature well care exams, immunizations, sports physicals for children ages 3 and up 11-21, integrated oral health services, integrated behavioral health services, gently used clothing and sports equipment giveaway, a drawing for gift baskets, snacks, and fun activities.  The event is by appointment only, interested families can 541-682-3550 to schedule.

“As a member of our Federally Qualified Health Center board, I’ve seen first-hand the vital role our Community Health Centers of Lane County play in improving the health of their patient population, which include some of our most vulnerable community members,” said Lane County Commissioner and Board Chair, Pat Farr. “In turn, by achieving better health for those 25,000 individuals, we make a direct and positive impact on the quality of life for all Lane County residents. 

The CHCLC consist of 8 clinic locations and provide quality, patient-centered preventive and primary care services, oral health services, and integrated behavioral health services to over 25,000 people in Lane County. The health experts at CHCLC look beyond medical charts to address the factors that may cause poor health, such as poverty, homelessness, substance use, mental illness, access to nutritious food, and unemployment. The CHCLC are critical piece of the greater Lane County health care system and collaborate with hospitals, local and state governments, social, health and business organizations to improve health outcomes for people who are medically vulnerable.

The annual National Health Centers Week serves as a reminder that their mission of improving the health and wellness through access to affordable, holistic healthcare remains crucial today as access to basic care remains a challenge to thousands across the many communities of Lane County, especially in rural Lane County. To address this disparity, CHCLC in partnership with Lane Community College (LCC), South Lane School District, and many others will be opening this September their first ever rural clinic, the South Lane Clinic in Cottage Grove. This clinic will afford residents of the greater Cottage Grove area with all the quality services they’ve come to expect from the CHCLC, as well as an on-site medical training program through LCC, all in their community. The South Lane Clinic will expand the CHCLC clinic footprint to 9 total clinics. 

In addition to being the backbone of healthcare for tens of thousands of people in Lane County, the CHCLC also prides itself in the level of quality care that is delivered day in and day out at their 8 clinics. That quality is evidenced by having some of the best quality assessing metrics in healthcare regionally. 

Just a few examples are:

Diabetic care – the CHCLC teams have been successful in helping to control A1C target levels in 80.3% of their diabetic population.

The average for Oregon in 2021 was 69.16%

The national average in 2021 was 67.71%

Hypertension – the CHCLC teams have been successful in helping 75.2% of their hypertensive patients into the target blood pressure range. 

The average for Oregon in 2021 was 60.85%

The national average in 2021 was 60.15%
