REMINDER: Lane County Developmental Disabilities To Hold Grand Opening Ceremony For New Building Wednesday Morning - 05/31/22

Eugene, OR — Lane County Developmental Disability Services (LCDDS) is holding a grand opening ceremony this Wednesday, June 1st from 8:30 to 9:30 AM to commemorate the opening of the brand new Lane County Developmental Disability Services Building, located at 2513 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Eugene, OR 97401. The ceremony will include refreshments, balloon animals, an address from members of the Lane County Developmental Disabilities Advisory Board (including a client), Chair of the Lane County Board of County Commissioners, Pat Farr, Lane County Health & Human Services Director Eve Gray, and LCDDS Manager Carla Tazumal. Guided tours will follow the ceremony.

The 25,346 square foot building replaces the previous location at the Lane County Public Service Building. This new building was specifically designed to meet the needs of individuals living with I/DD having incorporated the feedback and input of clients, service providers and LCDDS staff.
 

Some unique features include:

 

  • A “quiet” welcoming lobby and play area with design elements geared towards providing a calming environment for clients waiting for an appointment.
  • Expanded works space for out to 124 staff
  • Modern technology to facilitate virtual meetings
  • Highly adjustable lighting to support those with sensory needs
  • 9 meeting rooms with many named after rural areas of Lane County, former clients, and service providers
  • Artwork crested by people with IDD
  • A labyrinth aimed at promoting mindfulness 
     

LCDDS is currently serving over 3,000 individuals ranging in ages from 1 year old through 86 years old. Over the past 10 years, LCDDS has more than doubled the number of people it serves from 1300 to 3,000 clients.
