Glenwood Transfer Station Now Open Sundays -04/08/21

Customers who utilize Lane County’s Glenwood transfer station this summer can visit the facility seven days a week. The site – which is operated by Lane County Waste Management – is now open Sundays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

 

Lane County’s Marcola, Oakridge, Rattlesnake and Vida-Leaburg transfer sites have also expanded hours from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday. These are summer hours and will be effective through September 30, 2021.

Glenwood is located at 3100 E. 17th Avenue south of Franklin Boulevard and serves residents and businesses from Eugene and Springfield. Lane County is recommending residents take advantage of the expanded hours to avoid peak days like Monday and Saturday, from mid-morning through early afternoon. Avoiding these times and days allows staff to process customers more quickly, while helping customers continue to social distance and keep each other safe.

 

In addition to accepting garbage, the transfer station takes a wide variety of materials for recycling.

 

Accepted are appliances, antifreeze, cans, cardboard, clean wood, fluorescent bulbs and lamps, glass bottles and jars, motor oil, plastic milk jugs, scrap metal, yard waste and more.

 

Lane County’s Waste Management Division operates as part of the Lane County Public Works Division. The Glenwood facility is one of fifteen recycling and waste transfer stations throughout the county; garbage taken to the site is then hauled to Short Mountain Landfill, the County’s only permitted municipal landfill.
