News Release
Lane County Public Health was notified of 10 additional positive cases of COVID-19 and one new workplace cluster - 07/08/20

Lane County Public Health (LCPH) was notified of 10 additional positive cases of COVID-19 and one new workplace cluster. This makes a total of two hundred and fifty three (253) positive tests.

253 total cases-  Note that this includes confirmed and presumptive.

Of our cases (confirmed and presumptive):

Hospitalized: 1

Deaths: 3

Infectious: 63

27,085 (total individuals tested)

One new workplace cluster was identified through LCPH disease investigations. El Torito Grocery Store, located at 1333 OR-99 in Eugene, has had 7 staff members test positive for COVID-19. Per OHA guidelines, any workplace which has 5 or more cases will be publicly announced. Management at El Torito has been very cooperative during this process and is taking all recommended health procedures.

*We are now inquiring about attendance at large gatherings as part of our disease investigations and will make that information publicly available. To date, none of our confirmed cases have attended large gatherings such as protests, or rallies. We believe that the majority of our new points of transmission are from house parties predominantly associated with end of school year celebrations.

* Presumptive cases are people without a positive PCR test who have COVID-19-like symptoms and had close contact with a confirmed case. Though not confirmed by a positive diagnostic test, presumptive cases have a high likelihood of having COVID-19 because of the specific nature of the symptoms and known exposure.
