On 07/11/2026 at 8:23 pm, Klamath County Fire District 1 (KCFD1) and Kingsley Field Fire Department responded to reports of a fire at a commercial property adjacent to Highway 97.

The first arriving engine company determined the incident involved machinery and above ground tanks responsible for asphalt production. The equipment was involved in heavy fire conditions and was emitting clouds of black smoke visible from a distance.

Crews immediately recognized and communicated defensive firefighting conditions while establishing deck gun operations and calling for additional tenders from Keno RFPD and KCFD4. Power and gas were soon isolated from the tanks and response teams subsequently knocked out the rest of the blaze with hand lines.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.
