KCFD1 Responds To Structure Fire (Photo) - 04/15/26

Earlier this morning, Klamath County Fire District #1 crews were dispatched to the report of a structure fire in the Roosevelt area.

Battalion Chief 3103 arrived first on scene and confirmed a duplex with smoke and flames showing. Engine 3114 was the first arriving engine company and, within minutes, located the location of the fire, initiated an aggressive attack, and extinguished all fire activity.

Additional crews from across the district responded to assist, but due to the rapid arrival and quick knockdown, many units were released quickly to remain available for other calls within the district.

Thanks to the fast actions and coordinated efforts of our crews, there is a high likelihood that occupants from both sides of the duplex will not be displaced. No injuries were reported.

This incident also marked a couple important firsts for our department:

Battalion Chief Sweeney, recently promoted to Battalion Chief, was operating at his first working fire in this new role. He quickly established command and, through strong leadership and clear direction, effectively positioned crews to bring the incident under control in a rapid and coordinated manner.

Additionally, this was Probationary Firefighter Herinckk’s first working fire. Both members performed at the highest level of professionalism, demonstrating the training, discipline, and commitment we expect from KCFD #1 personnel.
