BNSF Train/Pedestrian Fatality Collision

On 09/29/26 at about 2117 hours Kelso Police officers responded to a train versus pedestrian collision in the area of the 1100 block of Wood Ave. Officers were notified that a north bound BNSF train had struck a pedestrian on the tracks near this area. Kelso officers and medics with Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue arrived in the area a short time later and found a deceased male subject on the embankment on the east side of the rail road tracks. The Cowlitz County Coroner's office responded to the scene and took custody of the deceased male. Identification of the male subject is pending, and will be made by the Coroner's office pending notification of next kin.
