Kelso Police - Shooting Investigation -08/14/24
On Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at 1850 hours, Kelso Police responded to a shooting in West Kelso. Kelso Police arrived on scene and found 31-year-old Cody Tamayo suffering from a gunshot wound. Tamayo was transported to a trauma center and his medical status is being withheld. Longview Police and Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office also responded to the scene to assist with the investigation. Within one hour of the incident, Columbia County Sheriff's Office located the suspect's vehicle unoccupied in Rainier, Oregon and began searching for the offenders.
At 2325 hours, Columbia County Sheriff's Office received information the suspects were hiding in a portable toilet in proximity to where the suspect vehicle was abandoned. Officers contained the area and successfully extracted 19-year-old Connor Santos Aguayo and 18-year-old Eligha Christian Buckner Lopez, from the portable toilet and took them into custody. Aguayo and Buckner Lopez are both currently being held on charges of Drive-by-Shooting and 1st Degree Assault.
