Arrest Of Attempted Murder Suspect - 07/07/21

On June 25, 2021, at approximately 8 P.M., the Keizer Police Department responded to the area of River Rd. N. and Cummings Ln. N. on gun shots being fired.  Officers located one of two involved vehicles whose passenger had been wounded by gunfire.  The victim passenger, an eighteen year old female, suffered a gunshot wound to her right leg; her infant child was also in the vehicle at the time of the shooting but was not injured.  The victim was transported to the Salem Hospital Emergency Department for treatment.  The victim driver, a twenty year old male, and the infant were taken to the police department where the driver was interviewed.  During the interview, the victim driver identified the shooter as twenty year old Christian Diaz. 

On July 7, 2021 at approximately 11 A.M., Mr. Diaz was arrested in West Salem without incident.  Mr. Diaz is charged with three counts of Attempted Assault in the First Degree, three counts of Attempted Murder in the First Degree, one count of Assault in the Second Degree and one count of Unlawful Use of a Weapon.  Mr. Diaz was taken to the Marion County Correctional Facility and released to intake staff.
