Case # 20-1585
On May 16, 2020, at about 10:38 a.m., the victim of a stolen car called 911 to report they had located the vehicle and were following it in Salem. Law enforcement was notified, but the caller eventually lost sight of the vehicle, a 2007 Prius. A few minutes later, a Keizer Police officer located the Prius near the intersection of Mainline Drive NE and Salem Parkway NE and attempted to stop it. The Prius tried to elude the officer, eventually entering northbound I-5, driving at around 80 mph.
Other officers assisted and were able to block the vehicle’s movement, which ended the pursuit near the Brooks Exit on I-5. Minor damage occurred to both the Prius and one police vehicle. Haraja Apa was arrested at the scene and was later taken to Salem Health, complaining of minor injuries. She was cited and released for the listed charges. No officers were injured.
Arrested: Haraja Apa, 20-years-old, from Vancouver, Washington
Charges: Unlawful use of a vehicle, attempt to elude, and criminal mischief. Bail--$30,000
