Keizer Man arrested for burglary of a residence (Photo) - 10/09/19

On Sunday, October 6, Keizer Police officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Wildwood Place NE to look for Jacob Brown, a 28 year old Keizer man, who was reportedly armed with a pistol. They were attempting to locate him on behalf of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office for charges stemming from a domestic violence case that agency is investigating. Upon initial contact with him, Mr. Brown fled on foot. Officers searched for him along with a Salem Police K9 team, but were unsuccessful in locating him.

About two hours later, Keizer Police dispatch received a call of a burglary in progress at a home in the 4300 block of Verda Lane NE. The victim told police that she returned home through her front door and as she did, a man, later identified as Mr. Brown, fled out the back door. Mr. Brown then jumped a fence, landing in the backyard of another residence in the 4300 block of Verda Lane, where he was confronted by that homeowner.

From there, Mr. Brown walked to a nearby garage sale and was seen by a responding officer milling around clothing that was for sale. When additional officers arrived, the resident hosting the garage sale told them Mr. Brown selected clothing and asked to step inside their home to try on the clothes. Officers met up with Mr. Brown, just inside the door of that home, and arrested him without incident. He was lodged at the Marion County jail on first degree burglary, as well as other charges related to the Marion County Sheriff’s investigation.
