STATEMENT FROM THE PRESIDENT AND FOUNDER OF THE LEAGUE OF MINORITY VOTERS ON THE 2026 MIDTERM ELECTION RESULTS - 11/04/26

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Last night, the true winners of the midterm elections were the American people. What we witnessed at the polls was not a standard political cycle or a partisan gift, it was a historic victory for multiracial democracy.

For years, the League of Minority Voters has invested in the fundamental belief that black, brown, Asian, Indigenous, and working-class communities are not a monolith. Last night, those investments found clear, unmistakable utterance. Across the nation, voters across communities of color showed up to reshape the political landscape on their own terms.

The results, including landmark outcomes like the election of a multiracial coalition of leaders, demonstrate that our multiracial democracy is evolving beyond rigid, outdated political party alignment. We are celebrating this moment for an obvious fundamental realignment in American politics.

This election delivered the blueprint for a true multiracial democracy—one driven by voter empowerment, competition, and authentic engagement rather than partisan assumptions. The League of Minority Voters remains steadfast in our mission to protect access to the ballot, build community power, and ensure that every voice in our growing, diverse nation is heard and respected.

The voters have spoken, and our democracy is stronger, broader, and more dynamic for it. And our bridge building work endures. Lets get to work now that the election is over.

About the League of Minority Voters: Founded in 2007 by a multiracial coalition, the League of Minority Voters is a nonpartisan organization dedicated to advancing civic engagement, protecting voting rights, and empowering minority communities across the nation.
