2027 Medicare Star Ratings: Kaiser Permanente Northwest Is Highly Rated - 10/28/26
Kaiser Permanente’s Medicare Advantage health plan in the Northwest is highly rated, according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ 2027 star ratings.
Kaiser Permanente Northwest earned 4.5 stars. This rating is held by fewer than 10% of Medicare Advantage health plans nationwide. Every year, Medicare evaluates plans based on a 5-star rating system, with 5-stars being the top rating.
“Our Medicare Advantage health plan members count on us for high-quality, coordinated care, and our physicians, clinicians, and care teams are committed to delivering that experience every day,” said Leong Koh, MD, executive medical director of Northwest Permanente. “We’re proud that commitment is reflected in our 4.5-star CMS rating and underscores the strength of our integrated approach to helping members achieve their best health.”
The high rating is a reflection of the expert medicine, seamless care, and outstanding service Kaiser Permanente Northwest and all Kaiser Permanente health plans provide to their Medicare health plan members. For the third year in a row (2025, 2026 and 2027), all Kaiser Permanente Medicare plans are rated 4 stars or higher.
“This recognition reflects the dedication of our physicians, clinicians, and staff in providing the high-quality care and service our Medicare Advantage health plan members deserve," said Wendy Watson, president of Kaiser Permanente Northwest. "Our 4.5-star rating is the result of meaningful improvements in member experience, access to care, and clinical quality, and it demonstrates our commitment to helping members achieve their best health."
What CMS ratings measure
Every year, CMS publishes Medicare Advantage (Part C) and Medicare prescription drug plan (Part D) ratings. The ratings offer consumers a way to compare the quality of Medicare plans.
CMS evaluates several key areas to determine star ratings:
- How well health plans help members stay healthy
- How well plans manage ongoing health conditions
- Member experiences
- Customer service
- Access to care
- Pharmacy services
Kaiser Permanente Northwest provides care to nearly 110,000 Medicare Advantage health plan members across Oregon and Southwest Washington.
