INCIDENT TYPE: Injury Motor Vehicle Crash
On September 16th, 2024 at 5:21 PM, 9-1-1 was notified of an injury motor vehicle crash in the 2200 block of Holland Loop Rd. The caller reported a vehicle had struck a power pole and someone was trapped inside the vehicle.
Emergency crews arrived to find the vehicle on its roof with an occupant trapped inside. Another occupant had been ejected. A near-by power pole had been sheared off at the base and power lines were hanging in the trees.
The occupant trapped in the vehicle was extricated by the Illinois Valley Fire Department. Both occupants were transported to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford. One by Mercy Flights helicopter and the other by AMR Ambulance. Both occupants were reported to be “stable” by hospital staff.
Per witnesses, the vehicle passed in a no passing zone at a high rate of speed, lost control on a corner and crashed into the power pole. The crash is currently under investigation.
