Potential CHL Scam

DETAILS:
On March 3, 2021, the Sheriff’s Office civil division was contacted by a citizen regarding a potential scam. The citizen, who is a current Concealed Handgun License applicant, received a phone message advising them to call a 1-877 phone number if they want to continue their CHL application. Such phone calls are not coming from the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office. If you receive a message from the Sheriff’s Office, you will be asked to contact a local phone number only and not a 1-877 phone number.
The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the vigilant citizen who brought this to our attention and would like to remind citizens to remain vigilant with phone calls.
