Adult In Custody Tests Positive For COVID-19 -11/05/20
INCIDENT DATE AND TIME: November 4th, 2020 @ 11:00AM
REPORTING DEPUTY: Sheriff Dave Daniel
DETAILS:
On October 30th, 2020 five Adults in Custody (AIC’s) became symptomatic for influenza. Those five AIC’s, based on Josephine County Adult Jail protocol, were immediately quarantined in negative airflow cells and each were tested for COVID-19. The results of those tests were returned to Sheriff’s Office administrative staff at 11:00AM on November 4th, 2020.
One AIC test returned positive for COVID-19 and the other four were negative. The particular AIC testing positive has been in custody since the middle of September, 2020. Josephine County Public Health was immediately contacted and a plan was set in place to test all AIC’s and Adult Jail staff. This has been done in an attempt to get a baseline as to the extent of possible infection, so appropriate action can be taken.
This will have a temporary impact on operations within the jail as a “lockdown” status has been imposed which reduces internal movement within the facility. The criteria for intakes has been increased temporarily until test results are returned and appropriate action is taken. Test results should be known within 72 hours as of the time of this release.
