The Josephine County Sheriff's Search & Rescue Team is proud to announce the establishment of a Search & Rescue Explorer Post.
This post welcomes young men and women, between the ages of 14 to 17 years old, looking for an opportunity to challenge themselves, explore career opportunities, and serve their community. Explorers will be challenged to conquer the Oregon State Sheriffs Association's standards to become active SAR members. These members provide vital services to Josephine County as well as the 10 counties in the CORSAR region.
Students will be introduced to and trained in many skills including:
GPS, Map & Compass
Radio Communication (HAM Radio)
Lost Person Behavior
UAV (Drone Team)
Incident Command Structure
Physical Fitness & Survival Skills
Wilderness Emergency Medical Care
UNO - Un-expected night out
Personal & Professional excellence
Students will be exposed to and encouraged to explore the following career fields:
Emergency Management
Law Enforcement
Firefighting
Technology and communications
Criminal Justice
Psychology
Civilian Air Patrol or Aircraft and Flight
Animal Behavior and Training
This opportunity is better than any summer camp and could lead to connections in many potential career fields. Please come to one of our informational meetings. Participate in the historic resurrection of an amazing program.
