CENTRAL POINT, Ore. - Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) Criminal Investigations Division (CID) detectives are investigating the death of a 2-year-old child in rural Central Point. Major Assault and Death Investigation Unit (MADIU) detectives responded to assist.
At 4:30 AM, ECSO dispatch received a call for a missing child in the 9900 block of Blackwell Road in rural Central Point. JCSO deputies and Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers arrived on scene and immediately began searching for the child. At 5:41 AM the child was located deceased. Detectives are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.
MADIU consists of detectives from JCSO CID, OSP, Medford Police Department, Central Point Police Department, Ashland Police Department, and the Jackson County District Attorney's Office.
This case is open and ongoing with detectives following additional leads. There is no further information available for release at this time.
