JCSO Case #21-5405

MEDFORD, Ore. – Illegal Marijuana Enforcement Team (IMET) detectives served a search warrant on a marijuana processing facility and grow site Wednesday morning. The property, located on the 3000 block of South Stage Rd. in Medford, included two large warehouses and field containing 3,900 lbs. of processed marijuana and 17,500 illegal marijuana plants.

This case was the result of a several months long investigation of an illegal/black market marijuana processing and distribution organization.  Overall, 26 migrant workers were taken into custody, interviewed, and released at the scene. The primary suspect was not on the property at the time the warrant was served but will be contacted at a later date and charged criminally.

In addition to the criminal investigation, Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA), Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and Jackson County Code Enforcement responded to the scene to conduct independent investigations. There was no licensing for any type of cannabis growing, handling, or processing at this location. Each agency identified multiple violations that will be addressed by enforcing penalties and fines.

While regulatory agencies investigate permitted cannabis operations, IMET is focusing on the black-market marijuana trade in the Rogue Valley. IMET is a multi-agency task force funded by a grant from the Oregon Criminal Justice Commission. The task force includes personnel from Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO), Medford Police Department (MPD), and the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office. Detectives from Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement (MADGE), officers from the MPD Livability Team, and JCSO deputies assisted with the operation.

Investigations are open and ongoing with detectives working additional leads. No further information is currently available for release.
